Have you heard about visualization meditation? This form of meditation is an extremely powerful way to use imagery to relieve stress, solve problems and improve self-confidence. That might sound like a lot for just one form of meditation to be able to do, but it is true. And you can learn this powerful technique whether you are new to meditation or are an experienced pro.

Imagery Profoundly Powerful To The Human Soul

Albert Einstein thought in pictures. Though less than 30% of the American population thinks the same way, we are all still affected both by what we glimpse in reality and what we see with our third eye, or mind's eye. Don't believe it? Think about a large, hairy spider landing on your head and being trapped in your hair. Truly visualize it happening, and take note of how your body reacts and what feelings rise up inside of you. Fear? Disgust? You might have literally felt a chill run down your spine.

That is the power of our mind's eye. Our bodies don't know the difference between reality and a powerful visualization. Many professional athletes use visualization to help learn and master a new technique. What they are doing is a form of self-hypnosis, which is very similar to meditation with visualization. In-fact, some experts say they are the same thing.

Whatever you call it, visualization meditation is real and tremendously effective. Do this. Think of the person or people you love most in this world. Imagine being with them in a contented situation. Maybe it's a large family gathering at a lake, your parent's house, or your own backyard. Sincerely imagine this and note how you are feeling. Can you feel the love? Happiness? Are you smiling? That is the power of the mind.

Visualization Meditation Is A Powerful Tool

You can use visualization meditation to work on problems, contact your spirit guides or simply relieve yourself of soreness and pain. Start by sitting in your favorite meditation pose. You can even lie down if you want. Concentrate on breathing deeply. Relax and make sure your eyes are closed. Now imagine a beautiful house, illuminated with gorgeous sunlight.

Enter the house. Notice the furniture as you move down the hallway. Look at the photos that are hung on the wall. The photos are of all the people, places and animals you have ever loved. Keep walking down the hallway until you get to your room. Now open the door and enter.

You might see your spirit guide, or a version of your past or future self. Or there might be a message written on a notepad or a computer screen. Perhaps there is no message at all. Whatever is there, experience it. Sit down if you want. Relax in this room. It's your room, and it has been waiting for you.

Stay As Long As You Want

When you are ready, leave the room and shut the door. Walk back down the hallway and out of the house. Let yourself return to where you are doing the visual meditation. When you are ready, open your eyes and see how you feel.

The above is a basic walk-through of visualization meditation. Don't feel obligated to use a house, though. Some people use a stairwell, a meadow, or even a stable. You can use whatever you want as long as it is a place you find beautiful and peaceful. Do this form of meditation on a regular basis, and you will begin to see a difference in your life.
